Rodney White

The series Quiet Life by Rodney White explore the depths of nature below the surface, all of which derived from three continuous-line drawings. The vocabulary of the paintings is abstract but White prefers to think of the work as conceptual. The forms exist in a landscape which simultaneously evoke growth, entwinement, harmony and possibility.

The process of intuitively extracting shapes from the drawings and responding to the canvas with color resulted in revealing the inherent complexity of our relationship to experiencing nature. Individual and personal.

Each painting is named, like Frances or Harper, rather than titled; the names are gender neutral and are meant to be as a point of reference.
